The following is a letter from the CEO and registrar of the ART:

The approach to lodging an application for review of a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) related decision with the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is changing on 28 March 2025.

This change is part of the ART’s implementation of a new case management solution that will progressively replace many of the systems used to manage matters before the Tribunal.

What’s changing?

New online form

From 28 March 2025, all new applications for a review of a NDIS decision will need to be submitted via a new online form. The form will provide new NDIS applicants with a better online application experience by enabling applicants to:

  • move easily between different sections of the form
  • lodge an application even where no internal review decision has been made within 90 days of a request for internal review
  • make a request for an extension of time to lodge as part of the application, and
  • reflect more than one type of representative who may be involved in their case.

The new online application form will be available on the ART website from 28 March 2025.

How documents are submitted to the ART

From 28 March 2025, you will no longer submit NDIS documents to the ART via the Customer Online Portal. From this date, all documents should be emailed to [email protected].

Name of respondent in NDIS correspondence

From 28 March 2025, the name for the respondent in NDIS correspondence will be recorded as Chief Executive Officer, National Disability Insurance Agency (rather than National Disability Insurance Agency) to reflect the respondent as referenced in the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (Cth).

Applications for review lodged prior to 28 March 2025

This change only applies to new applications for a review of a NDIS decision received on or after 28 March 2025.

All applications for a review of NDIS decisions already lodged with the Tribunal prior to 28 March 2025, will continue to be managed in the usual way.
